October Oscars State of Play

Awards Season is upon us, so join the new look Academy Watch to see what are the ‘must see’ films of the season.

The major film festivals are halfway done and that means that audiences have had a chance to react to most of the Awards favourites this year.

What better time to make some way too early predictions with Bo Nicholson and brand new co-host Sam Stokes, who has joined the network to add his particular flavour of film expertise.

The pair have combined to give you a list of the must-see films this season, including some you may have missed earlier in the year, and have also gone to the trouble of organising them into a tier based on their current likelihood of getting a Best Picture nomination.

Predictably, there’s plenty of talk about The Odyssey, La Bola Negra and Wild Horse Nine, but there are a number of films that could spring some surprises throughout the season.
