The Odyssey: A Second Oscars Juggernaut for Nolan?

Will The Odyssey be a second Oscar juggernaut for Christopher Nolan, or might there be a case of voter fatigue that strikes this early season Best Picture Frontrunner?

To kick off the Awards season in earnest, Academy Watch decided to start where it may all finish; discussing The Odyssey, the film many are predicting will take home Best Picture this year.

Hosts Sam Stokes and Bo Nicholson have vastly different opinions on Christopher Nolan and his filmography. Sam was brimming with excitement as he purchased his Imax tickets in advance, Bo was dragged kicking and screaming by a friend, afraid of another frustrating trip to the cinema.

And hasn’t that been the overall discourse. Nolan has his fans by the millions and they have supported him in droves by purchasing those cinema tickets and by defending a film they liked very much, but there is a corner of the internet with justifiable concerns about what Nolan has presented here. Sam and Bo get into what they liked and didn’t like about the film, and what it means to its overall Oscar chances. We probably should mention Oscar The Genie, who makes his Academy Watch debut, granting each host 1 wish regarding The Odyssey at the Oscars.
